The Ministry of Education has announced that all preschools across Sri Lanka will be required to implement a unified national curriculum starting in 2026, as part of the government’s ongoing education reform program.
According to the Ministry, the new early childhood curriculum has been finalized and will be officially introduced for preschool education next year. This move aims to ensure consistency and quality in early childhood learning across the country.
In preparation for the implementation, teacher training sessions on the new curriculum are set to begin on November 25, with more than 19,000 preschool teachers expected to take part.
Officials noted that this training will equip teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver the curriculum effectively, marking a major step forward in strengthening the foundation of Sri Lanka’s education system.
